Experienced ecommerce leadership when you need it now.

Hands-on interim Head of Ecommerce cover through a vacancy, recruitment, leave or restructure. Continuity, control and forward movement, then a clean handover.

When interim leadership is needed.

  • A Head of Ecommerce has left and the seat is empty.
  • The business is recruiting permanently, and ecommerce cannot go without leadership while it does.
  • Parental or extended leave in the senior ecommerce role.
  • A restructure, a replatform or a change of ownership that needs experienced hands on ecommerce.

In each case the risk is the same. Trading, agencies and the team carry on without anybody senior deciding what matters, and the permanent hire inherits the drift.

The first weeks.

  • The first week: take control

Access, the numbers, the trading calendar and the team. The first job is keeping everything important moving while I get up to speed.

  • The first month: set the priorities

A short, evidenced view of where the ecommerce operation stands, and the few things that matter most before the permanent structure is settled.

  • From then on: move it forward

Running the team, the agencies and the trading, and making the decisions the role exists to make. Interim is judged on what moves while I am there.

Handover.

Interim work ends with a written handover: the state of the numbers, the decisions made and why, the open priorities, and the team and agency context the next person needs.

If you are recruiting, the handover goes directly to the person you appoint, with time set aside for them to ask the questions a document cannot answer.

Terms.

A defined period, agreed up front and extendable if the permanent structure takes longer to settle. A monthly fee set by the time involved, agreed before anything starts.

Questions that usually come up

How quickly can you start?

It depends on current commitments. Tell me the date you need someone on the first call and I will tell you whether I can meet it.

Is interim hands-on?

Yes. The role is run as the job, with the team, the trading and the agencies, and with the authority to make decisions.

Can you help recruit the permanent hire?

Yes. I can help write the role brief, sit in on interviews and hand over directly to the person you appoint.

Can interim become fractional?

Often. Once the permanent structure is decided, some businesses keep senior ecommerce leadership on a fractional basis instead of, or alongside, a new hire.

Keep ecommerce moving through the change.

Tell me what has changed, when you need someone, and what the business expects of ecommerce this year. We can work out on the call whether interim cover is the right answer.
